Course Description: This program is designed to provide practical experience for the CEHRS to specialize in varying areas or one aspect of the EHR such as entry level coders, encoding within a hospital setting, abstractors and or coding specialist, HIPAA Compliance Officers or HIM (Health Information Managers). Participants will learn to assemble patients' health information, enter data such as demographic characteristics, history and extent of disease, input diagnostic procedures and treatment into computer as well as statistical and data analysis, compile census data, record retention and record indexes - all electronically.
Upon course completion, students will be able to test for national certification from National Healthcareers Association (NHA) to receive their CEHRS certification.

Prerequisites: Ability to read and write at 9th grade level, right to work in the United States, and must consent to drug testing.

Two class sessions will be offered Monday through Friday; the first session will be held from 9:00am-2:00pm for four weeks and the second session will be 6-9pm for six weeks.
